Moussem Moulay Abdellah Amghar

The moussem of Moulay Abdellah Amghar constituted for hundreds of years a yearly appointment for the meeting of the tribes of the Doukkala region. Celebrated at the memory of the holy Moulay Abdellah Amghar, the moussem has became nowadays one of the most important demonstrations of this kind at the national scale.

Tents are pitched every year at the coast of the Atlantic Ocean 9 km far from El Jadida, it’s a solemn homage paid by generations of the past full of faith in Islam and love to the ancestral soil. This historical place, where is held yearly the moussem,is called Moulay Abd Alah Amghar.

To keep alive the memories of the victorious battles against the occupying forces, and to express their gratitude to the chief of the place and his followers, for having build up this fortified mosque for the glory of god, the Amgharyine chorfa and the inhabitants of the region has became accustomed to come and pitch their tents near the sanctuary to express during seven days their joy and happiness.

Thus today more then 500.000 persons pitch their tents yearly like a big MEHALA camping near the walls of a city. These visitors go in for festivities religious ones and others like fantasias which gather more than 3600 riders. In additions to that shows, games, hawking and numerous other activities are organized at the same time.
